SwimSafer Test Information

New forms to be uploaded next week then test dates will be set.

Tests are booked 6 weeks prior to the test date.  If you are late you will miss the test as it is subject to SwimSafer approval. Has nothing to do with my swim school.

Jen Swim School students, please do not sign up for tests unless you have printed a copy of the Swim Safer checklist. When your child has passed every section at least 5 times then you can sign them up for the test. You can find this under download forms. It is better to pay for extra classes than to do a test and not be ready.

Next test will tentatively be on the 11th of December 2019 subject to swim safer approval and Time to be confirmed.

Registration for November tests is open. Test registration closes 29th October 2019.

You will require an assessment code to do your online theory exam. Once you have it you can book it online after your test. The tester should be able to do this straight after the test.

ABOUT SWIMSAFER

SwimSafer is a national water safety programme in Singapore introduced in July 2010 by the National Water Safety Council (NWSC)
The SwimSafer programme consists of six progressive stages, each comprising of a minimum of 12 hours of lesson time. Survival and activity skills are taught in each stage of the programme, working progressively toward the next stage.
At the end of each stage, each child will receive a stage completion certificate indicating his/ her individual skill achievements.

The higher freestyle award is 1.5km under 40  minutes. I believe with swim-safer gold, Life-Saving 3 and with this award, I would rate your child as a good swimmer. But remember without practice fitness and skill can be lost over time.

ON THE DAY OF THE TEST:

  • Arrive 30 min before the test is scheduled. Be early for the test so you don't miss out and have to pay again.
  • Wear a red cap for the test as an extra safety precaution.
  • Remember there is no better protection than parental supervision.
  • Bring required clothing that is in the must-see section below, for the tests and kick-board.
  • All students need life jackets you can hire free if you're a current student. Those who are not current students can hire life jackets $5. Please organise the individual collection and return date.
  • Lost life jackets are 20 dollars to replace.
  • TESTERS ARE LOOKING FOR TECHNIQUE NOT SPEED FOR STAGE 1 TO 6
  • Parents, please remind children of self-preservation.

Those who passed the SwimSafer practical test can go onto this link for the online theory

Children are to attempt test without parental help. It is cheating them the knowledge and right of the certification if done by an adult and not the person sitting the online test.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

The required skills and knowledge for each of the SwimSafer certificate stages can be found in the following document:
